About

Coached by her parents alongside sister Venus, Williams turned pro in 1995 and took her first major at the 1999 US Open. From the 2002 French Open through the 2003 Australian Open, she won four straight majors — each final against Venus — achieving the "Serena Slam." Injury and form dipped for years, but by 2007 she clawed back to No. 1. Starting at 2012 Wimbledon, dominance returned: Olympic gold, then eight of thirteen majors, including another four in a row from 2014–2015.
