About this person
Born 1 April 1934 in France, Pozner grew up in the United States and came to adulthood speaking English, Russian, and French with equal ease. During the Cold War he became the Soviet Union's chosen voice to Western audiences, articulating Moscow's positions in a language and style that bridged the divide. After the USSR fell he moved to the United States to work with Phil Donahue, then returned to Moscow and continued as a television journalist. From 2008 to 2022 he hosted Pozner on Russia's Channel One, sitting down with public figures in long-form interviews.
