Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson grew up in Djursholm, studied at Rytmus Musikergymnasiet, and played in a rock band called Tremblebee until it folded in the late 2000s. She pivoted to songwriting, landed a Warner/Chappell deal in 2011, and spent years writing for others - including Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do", which brought Grammy and Golden Globe nominations - while quietly recording her own material. Universal signed her in 2013, and a year later Queen of the Clouds arrived with "Habits (Stay High)", a sleeper that climbed to number three in the US and cracked her open to a wide audience. Lady Wood (2016), Blue Lips (2017), and Sunshine Kitty (2019) followed, each leaning further into her raw, autobiographical style; "Cool Girl" became a hit, "Glad He's Gone" earned a Grammy nod for its video. Her 2022 album Dirt Femme landed "No One Dies from Love" and "How Long", the latter soundtracking Euphoria's second season, proof that her particular brand of sad-girl honesty still finds its mark.
