Thomas John Woodward was born in Wales on 7 June 1940 and built his career on a full-throated baritone that AllMusic later called "robust." A string of top 10 hits in the 1960s — "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", the Thunderball theme, "Delilah", "She's a Lady" — established him as a shapeshifter who could work pop, R&B, country, soul, gospel, and show tunes without breaking stride. He played Vegas from 1967 to 2011, racked up 36 UK and 19 US Top 40 entries, sold over 100 million records, and collected a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1966.
