About this person

Courtois was a senior starter at Genk by 16, good enough that Chelsea paid €9 million in 2011 and immediately loaned him to Atlético Madrid for three years. He won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Europa League there, reached a Champions League final, and made himself impossible to keep on loan. Back at Chelsea in 2014 he claimed two Premier League titles, then engineered a messy exit to Real Madrid in 2018 for €38.8 million - La Liga's priciest keeper at the time. At Madrid he's collected three La Liga trophies and two Champions League medals. For Belgium he debuted at 19 as their youngest-ever senior keeper, earned over 110 caps, and took the Golden Glove at the 2018 World Cup when they finished third. The Zamora Trophy for La Liga's best goalkeeper has gone to him three times.
