Neil Mullane Finn joined Split Enz in 1977 and steered the band away from art rock toward new wave, writing the run of 1980s hits that included "I Got You" and "History Never Repeats". When Split Enz dissolved in 1984, he formed Crowded House with drummer Paul Hester and broke through internationally in 1987 with "Don't Dream It's Over". Crowded House folded in 1996; Finn released solo albums, convened the 7 Worlds Collide project, cut two records as the Finn Brothers, then reassembled Crowded House in 2006. In 2018 he joined Fleetwood Mac for a four-year stretch that ended when the band disbanded in 2022.
