About this person
Maria Bartiromo joined CNBC in 1993 after five years producing at CNN and built a career reporting from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, a first for television. She hosted Closing Bell and On the Money with Maria Bartiromo, won two Emmys, and earned the nickname "Money Honey" for work that stayed largely non-political. In 2013 she left for Fox, starting in January 2014. During Donald Trump's first presidency she became an advocate for his administration, conducting frequent unchallenging interviews. Smartmatic named her in a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit over unproven election conspiracy theories, still in discovery as of April 2023. Fox settled a separate Dominion Voting Systems suit for $787.5 million and acknowledged the broadcast statements about Dominion's machines were false. She was fired in 2026.
