Marcus Claudius Tacitus

Marcus Claudius Tacitus took the purple in 275, already an old man in a century that chewed through emperors. He spent his brief reign moving against the Goths and Heruli along the empire's fraying edges. The senate awarded him Gothicus Maximus for whatever he managed in those months. He died in June 276, still in the field, another name in the Crisis of the Third Century's brutal roll call.
