Coy Luther Perry III became Luke Perry and landed the role that would define him: Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, which ran from 1990 to 1995 and pulled him back from 1998 to 2000. Between and after, he worked steadily - Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1992, bull-riding drama 8 Seconds in 1994, a turn in The Fifth Element in 1997, guest spots on Criminal Minds and Law & Order: SVU, a voice role as Rick Jones in The Incredible Hulk animated series. In 2017 he took the part of Fred Andrews on Riverdale, playing the grounding father figure through the show's first years. His final film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. He died of a stroke on March 4, 2019.
