King of East Francia and Lotharingia
A boy-king who inherited a crumbling empire at six and watched it burn. Louis the Child ruled East Francia through nine years of Magyar raids that tore the kingdom apart, dying at seventeen as the last Carolingian to wear the eastern crown.
Louis became king of East Francia in 899 at age six, stepping into the throne his father Arnulf left behind. A year later he also claimed Lotharingia after his elder half-brother Zwentibold. For the next decade, Magyar raiders swept through his kingdom while he aged from child to teenager, the realm battered and defenseless. He died in late September 911, somewhere between seventeen and eighteen years old, closing the Carolingian line in the east.
