About this person

Born in allied-occupied Pula in 1947, Lidia Giuliana Matticchio left during the Istrian-Dalmatian exodus and arrived in the United States at nine years old. She and her ex-husband Felice founded Felidia, then she expanded with her children Joe and Tanya into a string of restaurants across Manhattan, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City. The portfolio grew to include Del Posto, which closed and sold in 2021, and stakes in Eataly markets from New York to São Paulo. By 2014 she had launched Lidia's Kitchen, her fifth television series, cementing a screen presence that began in 1998 and made her PBS's most consistent voice on Italian-American cooking.
