Andrew Scott Zimmern was born July 4, 1961, and came up through the restaurant world as a chef and food critic before finding his lane on camera. In the mid-2000s he co-created Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern for Travel Channel, a format that sent him to markets and kitchens worldwide to eat what locals eat and what Americans fear, and the show's success spun into sequels - Bizarre Foods America, Delicious Destinations, Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre World, Dining with Death, The Zimmern List, Driven by Food. The James Beard Foundation gave him its award in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2017. He also hosted The Big Food Truck Tip on Food Network, launched a YouTube cooking series, and in 2020 took What's Eating America to MSNBC. In November 2018 he opened Lucky Cricket, a Chinese restaurant in St. Louis Park, Minnesota; it struggled, closed for remodel, reopened, then shuttered for good during the 2020 pandemic.
