The man inside R2-D2. For four decades, Kenny Baker gave the galaxy's most beloved droid its physical presence — every wobble, every tilt — while the beeps came later in post.

About

Born 24 August 1934, Kenneth George Baker was a British actor, comedian and musician who found his signature role in 1977 when George Lucas cast him inside the barrel of R2-D2 for Star Wars. He returned to the droid across the original trilogy and the prequels, turning a tin can into a character through movement alone.
