Founder of Williams Grand Prix Engineering (1942–2021)
He built one of Formula One's most dominant dynasties from scratch, then ran it from a wheelchair for three decades after a car crash in 1986 left him tetraplegic — never once stepping back from the pit wall.
Frank Williams co-founded Williams in 1977 and spent the next forty-three years as its team principal and co-owner. Between 1980 and 1997, the team claimed nine World Constructors' Championship titles, establishing itself as a fixture at the front of the grid. He remained in charge until 2020, steering the operation through its peak years and the long stretch that followed. Williams died on 28 November 2021.
