Biography

About

François Quesnay was born on 4 June 1694 and trained as a physician before turning his precision to a different body: the economy itself. In 1758 he published the "Tableau économique," an analytical blueprint of how wealth flows through a nation — perhaps the first serious attempt to describe economic mechanics on paper. The work laid the foundations for the Physiocrats, the school of thought that believed land and agriculture were the true sources of value. Nine years later, in 1767, he published "Le Despotisme de la Chine," examining Chinese politics and society through the lens of enlighten…
