Something wrong?A martial artist who roundhouse-kicked his way from tournament champion to B-movie fixture, then rode a Texas Ranger badge through nine seasons of TV - before the internet turned him into a joke about his own indestructibility.

Carlos Ray Norris earned black belts in five disciplines after his Air Force stint, won championships, and founded his own fighting system, Chun Kuk Do. Bruce Lee cast him as a villain in The Way of the Dragon in 1972; Steve McQueen told him to take acting seriously. He did. Breaker! Breaker! in 1977 made money, Good Guys Wear Black the next year made him a star, and by the early eighties he was headlining independent action films that pulled international crowds. Cannon Films locked him into a multi-picture deal starting with Missing in Action in 1984, and he became the studio's anchor through the decade. Walker, Texas Ranger ran on CBS from 1993 to 2001. In 2005, strangers on the internet began writing "Chuck Norris facts" - mock-heroic one-liners about his alleged omnipotence - and the meme outlasted most of his filmography, spawning books, games, and a second wave of visibility he never asked for but happily monetized.
