Carlos Ray Norris earned black belts in five disciplines after his Air Force stint, won championships, and founded his own fighting system, Chun Kuk Do. Bruce Lee cast him as a villain in The Way of the Dragon in 1972; Steve McQueen told him to take acting seriously. He did. Breaker! Breaker! in 1977 made money, Good Guys Wear Black the next year made him a star, and by the early eighties he was headlining independent action films that pulled international crowds.
