About

Born in 1948, Charles became heir apparent at three when his mother acceded in 1952, then endured a famously harsh education at Gordonstoun before Cambridge and a stint in the Royal Navy. His 1981 marriage to Diana Spencer produced two sons but collapsed under mutual affairs and relentless press attention; they divorced in 1996, and she died in a car crash a year later. He married Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005 after a long partnership. As Prince of Wales he founded the Prince's Trust in 1976, championed historic architecture and built the experimental town of Poundbury, pushed organic farming…
