Born in Seattle in 1955, Gates met Paul Allen at Lakeside School and followed him into computing. He enrolled at Harvard in 1973, took Math 55 and graduate computer science classes, then dropped out two years later to co-found Microsoft. He led the company as CEO for 25 years, became its youngest billionaire at 31 in 1987, and watched his net worth breach $100 billion in 1999.
