About this person

Ramaswamy was born in Cincinnati in 1985 to Indian immigrant parents, studied biology at Harvard, and picked up a law degree from Yale in 2013. He worked as an investment partner at a hedge fund before launching Roivant Sciences in 2014, a biotech firm he led until 2021 that helped push his net worth to an estimated $3.5 billion by 2026. He stayed out of politics until 2020, when he backed Trump and began writing against what he called "woke" policies in his 2021 book Woke Inc. In 2024 he became the youngest candidate in the Republican presidential primaries, withdrew to endorse Trump, and is now running for governor of Ohio in 2026 with the backing of both Trump and the state party.
