Born in Bologna in 2006 to sportscar driver Marco Antonelli, he swept back-to-back European karting titles in 2020 and 2021 before claiming Italian and ADAC F4 championships in 2022 with Prema. A Mercedes junior since 2019, he took both Formula Regional titles and finished sixth in F2 with two wins in 2024. Mercedes signed him straight out of that season to replace Hamilton alongside George Russell. He podiumed in Canada as a rookie in 2025, then carried Mercedes to contention in 2026: eight wins including his home race in Italy, six poles, ten fastest laps, fifteen podiums, and a string of youngest-ever marks - polesitter in China, championship leader in Japan, first to score a grand chelem. He's contracted through 2027.
