About this person
Born 15 March 1976, Ohana trained as a lawyer and worked for Shin Bet before entering politics with Likud. He joined the Knesset as the first openly gay right-wing member and the first gay man from his party to hold a seat. He went on to serve as Minister of Justice and Minister of Public Security - the first openly gay person appointed to an Israeli cabinet. In 2022 he became Speaker of the Knesset, again a first for an openly gay officeholder in that role.
