Roman Emperor from 251 to 253 (206-253)
A Roman emperor who ruled for two years during the empire's third-century spiral, sharing power with his son until both were killed by their own troops.
Gaius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus was born around 206 and rose through Roman military ranks during an era of mounting instability. He seized the throne in June 251 after the previous emperor died in battle against the Goths, immediately elevating his son Volusianus to co-rule beside him. Their joint reign lasted just over two years, ending in August 253 when soldiers murdered both emperors — a common fate in a century when the empire churned through dozens of claimants.
