I have three siblings of which I am the youngest. I grew up shy and it affected my interaction with people.
My earliest memory is how he’d come home late from work, park next to my bedroom window and loudly play music. He’d play songs by the Soul Brothers and Dolly Parton.
I began doing backing vocals for a few artists. During this time, I got to learn more about recording music professionally.

Simphiwe Majobe Nhlangulela took the stage name Simmy and signed with EL World Music in 2018, the year that changed everything. Her debut album Tugela Fairy arrived with "Ngiyesaba", "Ubala", and "Umahlalela" - singles that pushed her into prominence and earned the record a platinum certification from RiSA. Two years later she released Tugela Fairy (Made of Stars), a second studio album that carried the name forward. The trajectory from signing to platinum to sequel happened fast, and it stuck.
