Shreya Ghoshal

Ghoshal began classical training at six in Bengal. At sixteen she won the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma, which caught filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's attention through his mother. He cast her for Devdas in 2002 - her first film playback - and she swept the awards: National Film Award, Filmfare, and the RD Burman prize for new talent. What followed was prolific: songs across Indian languages and outside them, five National Film Awards total, seven Filmfare trophies, ten more from Filmfare South. She judged television singing competitions, appeared in music videos, and made the Forbes India celebrity list five times. In 2010 the governor of Ohio declared a day in her name; in 2013 members of the UK House of Commons honored her in London. Four years later she became the first Indian singer with a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Delhi.
