About

Born in Tokyo in 1954 into a political dynasty — son of an LDP politician, grandson of a prime minister — Abe graduated from Seikei University, worked in industry, and entered the House of Representatives in 1993. He rose quickly: party secretary-general, Chief Cabinet Secretary under Koizumi, then prime minister in 2006 at age fifty-two, Japan's youngest post-war premier and the first born after the war.
