Khakaure Senusret III took the throne as fifth king of the late 12th Dynasty and waged military campaigns that didn't just expand borders but restructured power at home. He crushed the influence of regional rulers, centralizing authority in a way that opened an era of peace and economic prosperity. Trade revived, craftwork flourished, cities grew. The consolidation worked so well that he was deified during his own lifetime - a rare honor in a culture that typically waited for death to grant divinity. He died around 1839 BC, leaving behind a Middle Kingdom at its height and a cult that outlasted the dynasty itself.
