Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy

Born on Christmas Day 1936, Alexandra arrived as the only daughter of Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, sixth in line to the throne her uncle would soon occupy. Her bloodline wove tight - a niece to both Edward VIII and George VI, first cousin to Elizabeth II, tangled by marriage into double cousinhood with Charles III. In 1963 she married businessman Sir Angus Ogilvy, a union that lasted until his death in 2004. The decades carried her from proximity to the crown toward its distant edges: by 2026 she'd drifted to 58th in succession, the geometry of births and marriages steadily pushing her further out. What remained was the work itself, the patronages and appearances, the particular duty of being royal without the throne ever coming close.
