Five years later, in 2010, he and his younger brother John launched Stripe to make online payments simple for developers. He's been CEO since. In 2020, as labs stalled during the pandemic, he and economist Tyler Cowen created Fast Grants to push money to COVID researchers in days instead of months. A year later he co-founded Arc Institute with bioscientists Silvana Konermann and Patrick Hsu, a nonprofit built to let scientists work without the usual grant treadmill.
