Max Frankel was an American journalist who was executive editor of The New York Times from 1986 to 1994. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for his coverage of Richard Nixon's visit to China. He also brought attention to The New York Times underreporting on the Holocaust. He is the father of film director David Frankel.
