Zhang Yixing auditioned for a Chinese talent show at fourteen, then spent years training in Seoul before debuting in Exo's Mandarin-speaking unit in 2012. Three years in, he set up his own studio under SM Entertainment to handle solo work in China, releasing the EP Lose Control in 2016 and joining the cast of the reality hit Go Fighting! He added acting to the mix with roles in The Mystic Nine, Kung Fu Yoga, and The Island, while his Forbes China ranking climbed from 20th in 2017 to 5th by 2020.
