Keke Rosberg

Born in Sweden, raised in Finland, Keijo Erik Rosberg climbed from karting through Formula Vee and Super Vee, winning the German Championship in 1975 before three years in Formula Two. He made his Formula One debut at 29 in 1978 with Theodore, bounced through backmarker teams, then landed at Williams in 1982. That year he won once - Switzerland - but five more podiums carried him to the title at the final race, making him Finland's first World Drivers' Champion. Williams struggled in the turbo era that followed, though he took Monaco in 1983, Dallas in 1984, and Detroit and Australia in 1985. A winless final season with McLaren opposite Alain Prost closed his career in 1986 with five wins total. He shifted to management afterward, guiding Mika Häkkinen and his own son Nico - who took the championship thirty-four years after his father did.
