About

Johannes Kepler was born on 27 December 1571 in Germany and worked as a mathematics teacher at a seminary in Graz before becoming assistant to astronomer Tycho Brahe in Prague. After Brahe's death he rose to imperial mathematician for Emperor Rudolf II and his successors Matthias and Ferdinand II, later teaching in Linz and advising General Wallenstein. In an era when astronomy and astrology blurred together, he redrew the line: his books Astronomia nova, Harmonice Mundi, and Epitome Astronomiae Copernicanae recast astronomy as "celestial physics," part of a universal mathematical order he bel…
