According to the book of 1 Kings, Jeroboam son of Nebat led a revolt of ten tribes against Rehoboam, ending the United Monarchy and founding the northern Kingdom of Israel. He reigned for 22 years — Albright dates it 922 to 901 BC, Thiele 931 to 910 BC — during which "there was war continually between Rehoboam and Jeroboam."
