About this person

Born in Taiwan in 1963, Huang moved to the U.S. as a child and studied electrical engineering before earning a master's from Stanford. In 1993, at thirty, he co-founded Nvidia in a Denny's in San Jose and steered it through near-collapse in the late nineties. The pivot to GPUs - originally for gaming - positioned the company decades later at the center of the AI boom. By October 2025, Nvidia had become the first firm to break $5 trillion in market cap. Forbes now pegs Huang's personal fortune above $200 billion, seventh worldwide, and Time named him an Architect of AI in 2025.
