Born 27 May 1975, James Trevor Oliver broke through with The Naked Chef on BBC Two from 1999 to 2001, a series built on his casual, unfussy style in the kitchen. The exposure turned him into a publishing force - more than 50.6 million books sold across over 32 titles - and opened the door to restaurant ventures, beginning with Jamie's Italian in 2008 under the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group banner. In 2005 he launched Feed Me Better, a campaign to improve school food that eventually won government backing, earning him an MBE in 2003 and the TED Prize in 2010. The restaurant chain collapsed into administration in May 2019, but the television work and the advocacy had already secured his place in British public life. Italy made him a Knight of the Order of the Star in 2019.
