About this person
Born in Bahrain in 1985, Fernandez studied mass communication in Sydney and worked briefly as a television reporter in Sri Lanka before winning the Miss Universe Sri Lanka crown in 2006. A modelling assignment brought her to India in 2009, where she auditioned for Sujoy Ghosh's fantasy Aladin - her acting debut earned her an IIFA Award for Star Debut. The psychological thriller Murder 2 in 2011 gave her commercial traction, followed by supporting turns in Housefull 2 (2012, IIFA nomination) and Race 2 (2013). She became a fixture in high-grossing vehicles: Kick (2014), Housefull 3 (2016), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Vikrant Rona (2022). Between films she judged Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, endorsed brands across categories, and worked the humanitarian circuit.
