About

Hermann Karl Hesse was born 2 July 1877, a German-Swiss poet and novelist whose interest in Eastern religious and philosophical traditions, woven with Jungian analysis, shaped everything he wrote. Demian, Steppenwolf, Siddhartha, Narcissus and Goldmund, The Glass Bead Game — each book followed someone hunting for authenticity, self-knowledge, a way to live that didn't feel like a lie.
