About this person

Born in Sweden to Greek parents on 31 January 1982, Helena Paparizou started in 1999 as half of the duo Antique, which released five albums and took Greece to Eurovision 2001 before splitting in 2003. She went solo with Sony Music, leaning into laïko and dance-pop on Protereotita (2004), then returned to Eurovision in 2005 and won outright. Three consecutive number-one albums followed between 2006 and 2008, all certified platinum, and her 2017 single "An Me Dis Na Kleo" hit 35 million YouTube views. By 2010 Alpha TV ranked her 14th among Greece's top female artists since 1960; Forbes placed her 21st on its power-celebrity list that same year. She moved into television in the 2010s - Dancing on Ice, Let's Dance, and since 2016 a judge's chair on The Voice of Greece - while continuing to release albums under Minos EMI after leaving Sony in 2011.
