He has been credited with helping to found the country rock and alt-country genres and received a ranking of No. 87 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Parsons was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2026 in the musical influence category.
