Jelena Noura Hadid was born in Los Angeles on April 23, 1995, and started modeling as a child for Baby Guess before stepping away. She signed to IMG Models in 2013 and walked her first New York Fashion Week in 2014, then moved fast: high fashion campaigns, a Maybelline contract, editorial after editorial. In 2016 the British Fashion Council named her International Model of the Year. The fees followed the recognition, and she's stayed in the top earners since 2017, a fixture on runways and in magazines whose face now doubles as a measuring stick for commercial reach.
