King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq (1912-1939) (ruled 1933-1939)
King of Iraq from 1933 until his death in a car accident at 27, cutting short a reign that began when he inherited the throne from his father Faisal I.
Born in Mecca on 21 March 1912, Ghazi ibn Faisal was the only son of Faisal I and spent a brief moment as Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Syria in 1920 before that state collapsed. When his father died in 1933, Ghazi became King of Iraq at 21. His reign lasted just six years. On 4 April 1939, he died in a car accident in Baghdad. His son Faisal II succeeded him.
