Biography
About
Born in March 1541 into the House of Medici, Francesco inherited the grand duchy in 1574 after his father established the title. He ruled Tuscany through the late Renaissance, a period when the family's influence stretched far beyond Florence's walls. His tenure lasted until October 1587, when he died at forty-six—leaving the dukedom to pass once more within the dynasty that had shaped the region for generations.
