Born in the Netherlands on 4 December 1973, Corsten spent the 1990s coding the DNA of trance under names like System F and Gouryella, each alias a vehicle for a different strain of the genre he was helping invent. By the mid-2000s he'd cracked the upper tier of DJ Mag's poll - fifth in 2004 and 2005, sixth in 2006 and 2008 - and was playing Electric Daisy Carnival and Tomorrowland on repeat. The style broadened after that, progressive house bleeding into the setlists, and he launched Resonation Radio to hold it all. In 2024 he landed at number 80 on the same poll, still on the road, still on the air.
