A normal chap, a man who likes creating things. A good worker in the morning, and a man who likes enjoying himself in the afternoon.
Italian industrialist, founder of Automobili Lamborghini (1916–1993)
A tractor manufacturer who turned a slight from Enzo Ferrari into automotive revenge. Lamborghini built farm equipment through Italy's postwar boom, then pivoted to supercars in 1963 — not because he loved racing, but because he thought he could build a better GT than the man who dismissed his complaint.
Born to grape farmers in Renazzo in 1916, Ferruccio Lamborghini's mechanical instincts led him into tractor manufacturing in 1948. Lamborghini Trattori became a major producer of agricultural equipment as Italy rebuilt, and he expanded into oil burners in 1959 and air conditioning soon after. In 1963 he founded Automobili Lamborghini in Sant'Agata Bolognese, making high-end sports cars. He opened a fourth company, Lamborghini Oleodinamica, in 1969, then sold off his interests by the late 1970s. He retired to an estate in Umbria, where he made wine until his death in 1993.

One day in Modena I was entering a restaurant when I recognized Ferrari sitting at one of the tables.
