Born in Nazareth in 2002, Elian Marjieh grew up inside a family soundtrack of Julio Iglesias and Sabah Fakhri, until Grammy-winner Nasri Atweh found her at 15 and set the arc in motion. She took the name Elyanna and began releasing work that married Arabic music to Latin rhythms, an experimental Arab-pop sound with no obvious precedent. Two EPs arrived in 2020 and 2022, followed by the studio album Woledto in 2024, with singles like "Ana Lahale" and "Mama Eh" charting in Lebanon. The Wiltern in Los Angeles sold out, KOKO in London sold out, and she became the first artist to perform in Arabic on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert - a line crossed quietly, no fanfare, just the fact of it.
