Grohl joined punk band Scream at seventeen in 1986, then landed behind the kit for Nirvana in 1990 after Scream folded. His first album with them was Nevermind in 1991. When Kurt Cobain died in 1994 and Nirvana dissolved, Grohl recorded a solo album under the name Foo Fighters in 1995, then assembled a full band that's released twelve studio albums since. Along the way he co-founded Them Crooked Vultures, played with Queens of the Stone Age and Tenacious D, directed videos and documentaries (Sound City, Sonic Highways), published an autobiography, and starred in a horror-comedy with his band. Rolling Stone ranked him the 27th-best drummer of all time in 2016, and he entered the Rock Hall twice - once for Nirvana in 2014, again for Foo Fighters in 2021.
