About this person
Chai Jing started as a radio host in Hunan in 1995, then moved to China Central Television in 2000. Between 2003 and 2013, she anchored News Probe and Seeing, pushing the boundaries of what state media could cover - her 2005 segment was CCTV's first on the gay community. When Seeing was shut down in 2013 amid tightening press controls, she left the network. In 2015 she released Under the Dome, a self-produced documentary on China's air pollution. It was banned on 7 March 2015, and Chai was blacklisted. Time named her one of the 100 Most Influential People that year. Two years later she relocated to Spain and continued reporting independently on YouTube.
