About this person
Casey Means graduated from Stanford's medical school in 2014 and started a surgical residency in ENT, but quit in 2018. She let her medical license lapse and opened a functional medicine practice in Portland instead. With her brother Calley Means as co-author and business partner, she became a face of the Make America Healthy Again movement. In May 2025, Trump nominated her for surgeon general after pulling his first pick. By April 2026, he'd withdrawn her name and moved on to someone else.
