About

Born in Paris in 1934, Bardot trained as a ballerina before starting to act in 1952. And God Created Woman in 1957 made her an international sensation—Simone de Beauvoir called her "a locomotive of women's history" and the most liberated woman in France. She won a David di Donatello for The Truth in 1960, starred in Godard's Le Mépris in 1963, and earned a BAFTA nomination for Viva Maria! in 1965. Across 47 films and more than 60 songs, she became a symbol of the sexual revolution and a major pop culture figure.
