Brendan Eich was born July 4, 1961, and became a programmer who would shape how the internet works. He created JavaScript, the language that powers interactive websites, and co-founded the Mozilla project, then the Mozilla Foundation and Mozilla Corporation that grew from it. He served as Mozilla's chief technical officer and was later appointed CEO, but resigned shortly after - pressure mounted over his opposition to same-sex marriage. He went on to co-found Brave and became its CEO, building a browser that blocks ads and trackers by default.
